This policy covers torajutsu.com, the site of the International Tora Jutsu Federation. It’s written to actually describe what happens when you use this site, not to satisfy a template.
Who Runs This Site
torajutsu.com is written and operated by Master Cincinnatus on behalf of the International Tora Jutsu Federation. Questions about this policy or your data can be sent through our Contact page.
What Gets Collected
Comments. If you leave a comment, the comment content, your name/email as submitted, your IP address, and your browser’s user agent string are stored, to help detect spam and abuse. An anonymized hash of your email may be checked against the Gravatar service to display a profile photo — if you have a Gravatar account, your profile photo is publicly visible next to your comment.
Contact form. Messages sent through the Contact page include whatever you enter (name, email, message) so we can reply.
Newsletter signups. Subscribing (including for the Martial Art Decision Worksheet) stores your first name (optional) and email address, used to deliver whatever you signed up for and a weekly article email. Signup requires a confirmation click (double opt-in) before you’re added to the list — nothing is sent until you confirm. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
Server logs. Like effectively every website, requests to this server are logged with the requesting IP address, user agent, and page requested, kept briefly for security and abuse monitoring (blocking bots, brute-force login attempts, and similar).
This site does not run Google Analytics, Meta/Facebook tracking pixels, or third-party ad networks. There’s no ad-tech tracking you across the web from here.
Cookies
WordPress sets standard functional cookies (comment authorship, login sessions if you have an account). If you subscribe to the newsletter, a cookie or token may be used to remember your subscription status. hCaptcha (used to keep spam bots off forms) sets its own cookies when a form is displayed — see hCaptcha’s privacy policy.
Third-Party Services This Site Uses
- Akismet (Automattic) — checks comment content against a spam database. Comment text, IP, and email may be sent to Akismet for this check.
- hCaptcha — bot protection on forms.
- MailPoet — manages the newsletter list and sends the emails.
- Gravatar (Automattic) — looks up a profile photo for commenters by email hash.
Affiliate Links
Some articles contain affiliate links (primarily Amazon Associates, occasionally other affiliate networks) — clearly marked, usually in a highlighted callout box. If you click one and buy something, this site may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Amazon and other affiliate partners set their own tracking cookies when you click through; this site doesn’t control those cookies, only the link itself. Recommendations are made because we’d recommend them anyway, not because they pay more — commission rates don’t influence what gets recommended.
Your Rights
You can ask what data is held about you, request it be corrected, or request deletion, through our Contact page. Unsubscribing from the newsletter removes you from that list immediately via the link in any email.
Children
This site isn’t directed at children and doesn’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If what this site collects or how it’s used changes materially, this page will be updated and the “last updated” date above will change.
